Every year, Cannes selects the best films in the world. Then most of them disappear into a fragmented global release calendar — different platforms, different territories, different windows. No single place to track it all.
This tracker was built to fix that.
The Cannes Film Tracker monitors the global distribution of the Festival de Cannes Official Selection across theatrical, streaming, and physical release windows — updated automatically, no manual intervention.
Each edition covers the full Official Selection: 80+ films, tracked across the US, France, and international markets. Built by a journalist who wanted to actually watch Cannes — not just follow it on social media.
How it works
The tracker runs on a squad of four Python agents — Registrar, Scout, Broker, and Publisher — connected to TMDB’s API and a remote MySQL database. Data is processed locally via an SSH-tunneled pipeline and deployed directly to this dashboard.
Built on a zero-cost architecture: open source tools, free-tier APIs, no paid services. The system is fully autonomous once deployed — the ENGAGE protocol handles ingestion, enrichment, availability scanning, and publishing.

This project is part of an ongoing effort to cover the Festival de Cannes with the depth it deserves — from distribution tracking to on-the-ground reporting. Two consecutive editions and counting.
